Support HART’s work
The Housing Assessment Resource Tools (HART) project has simplified housing needs assessments for communities across the country through automation. They have saved thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of staff time by creating free, online, and comparable tools for governments and non-profits to use in developing funding applications, fulfilling provincial and federal requirements, and better understanding their community makeup. Their work advances the priorities of the National Housing Strategy by highlighting the needs of priority populations, including Indigenous people; advancing social sustainability through mapping land according to amenity proximity; and encouraging a balanced supply of housing.
The project team has the expertise, data infrastructure, and capacity to deliver standardized, automated housing needs reports for communities through the 2026 census, to expand reports to include data about proximity to transit, and develop more nuanced estimates of future housing needs. They are also able to enhance the automated mapping of public land in British Columbia, supporting the goals of government programs like BC Builds, Canada Builds, and supporting greater non-profit development.
HART is dependent on grants for its work. Community support is helpful in showing that HART’s work has been beneficial for local governments, non-profit housing providers, and others in the housing sector. Please sign this form if you support the extension of HART’s automation projects in BC as a model for the rest of Canada. Support for HART We support HART’s work and would like to see sustained funding for their work to extend for the upcoming census and beyond, as well as expand their tools to provide even more meaningful housing insights in Canadian communities.
