Dr. Carolyn Whitzman will be at Housing Central’s 2023 Conference in Vancouver, Canada on November 20, 2023, presenting solutions to Canada’s housing crisis.

Recently, local governments in BC have started adopting inclusionary housing policies requiring a certain proportion of affordable or non-market housing units in new developments. Often these units must be owned or managed by non-profits. As a relatively new tool, there is a need to share lessons learned and develop best practices. Metro Vancouver is assessing inclusionary housing practices, and identifying success factors to ensure the effective delivery of affordable housing for local governments, developers, and non-profit operators. This session will engage participants around their experiences and needs, and explore the possibility of developing policy models for inclusionary housing in BC.
