Upcoming Project: BC Public Land Map
BC faces a housing affordability crisis that demands immediate action. Building housing on public land could slash delivery costs by 60%—but without knowing where that land is, governments can’t act fast enough. The upcoming BC Public Lands Map (BCPLM) aims to change that.
Driven by the success of our Land Assessment Tool, we are thrilled to share that HART has received funding for a new project under CMHC’s Demonstrations Initiative. The BCPLM will be a comprehensive map of public lands across BC, including every level of government, which measures and assesses these lands for housing development.
Key Features
- Smart Location Analysis: evaluate proximity to transit, healthcare, education, and other critical amenities
- Infrastructure Capacity Assessment: plan new housing without straining existing infrastructure
- Site Readiness Metrics: including DASH readiness scores for rapid development assessment
- Multi-Government Integration: federal, provincial, regional, and municipal public lands in one platform
- BC Builds Compatibility: designed to support provincial housing initiatives and funding programs
We will be presenting the first prototype of the BCPLM at Housing Central on November 18, 2025, and working toward a completed map by Summer 2026. We also plan to do a nationwide virtual prototype demonstration in the fall.
